Welcome to Lauren Jenkins Violin
Lauren Jenkins graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Music in violin performance from the Conservatory of Music at Purchase College, SUNY in May 2014. In May 2015, she received a Performer’s Certificate from the same institution and has spent the past five years studying with Calvin Wiersma of the Manhattan String Quartet. Lauren began studying the violin at the age of three and has attended numerous festivals around the country and has participated in various orchestras - both youth and professional- throughout her training. Lauren was a full scholarship Young Artist at the Manchester Music Festival for two summers in a row (2013 & 2014) and chamber music is her utmost passion. This summer, she founded and coached the “Huntcliff Chamber Workshop,” where she coached a string quartet of high school level musicians. Lauren is also very passionate about teaching at all levels. She grew up in a musical home watching her mother teach Suzuki violin her whole life. Lauren is well versed in the Suzuki method of teaching and has her Pre-Twinkle and Book 1 Suzuki teacher-training certificates. Lauren began developing her own private violin studio at the age of 18 and taught both group and private lessons through several companies based in Westchester County, NY. She has also had her own personal students in NY as well as Atlanta, GA. Lauren had her solo debut at the age of 16 performing Vivaldi's A minor violin concerto in the Schönbrunn` Palace in Vienna, Austria. A native southerner, Lauren grew up fiddling alongside her classical training. She still enjoys fiddling (as well as other alternative genres) to this day and also has voice training and loves to sing.
Lauren will be moving onto a new chapter of her life this coming fall to pursue her Master’s of Music in violin performance at Carnegie Mellon University. She will be studying under Christopher Wu of the Pittsburgh Symphony. |
